My name is Dan Killeen, and I'm a thirtysomething living in New York City who has spent the last decade and a half working as a software developer and technology consultant for a variety of Fortune 500 companies. I'm also an amateur video game developer. I say "amateur", rather than "independent", because I've never published a game and so I think calling myself an indie game developer at this point would be presumptuous.
I first got started with programming in high school when I taught myself PERL and C++. I've always had a keen interest in video games, and that is a big part of the reason I decided to learn how to program back in the day. Over the years I've tinkered with a variety of game related projects in my free time. About 3 years ago I started playing around with the Unity engine, and I started to move from tinkering to making a serious effort to develop games. I've learned a lot over the past several years and so part of my motivation for creating this blog is to share some of that knowledge.
